Title I
2008 -09 School Year
The funds for the Title I program provide remedial Reading and Math instruction for qualifying students in grades K-6. The students are identified through the use of a multi-criterion eligibility form. The students participate in pull-out instruction in small classes or in push-in instruction with a teacher or an aide going into the regular classroom to assist students. An after school reading program, Reading Plus, is offered at the fourth grade level for Title I qualifying students.
Thirty pre-school students are also served through two Title I funded pre-schools. The students for this program are also identified through a multi-criterion eligibility form.
The Satellite School also receives Title I funding to help educate their neglected student population. Approximately 75 – 100 students will attend this school year since their population is constantly changing.
Title I funding also supplies monies for materials and supplies for the education of Title I students. In addition, professional development for teachers is provided through Title I funds.
Each year a Title I Needs Assessment survey is conducted among parents of Title I students and the teaching staff.
