Carl Junction Transportation Department Earns Top State Awards for Safety and Excellence

The Carl Junction Schools Transportation Department continues to set the standard for school bus safety in Missouri, earning statewide recognition for its outstanding performance.

In February, the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted its annual school bus inspections, and all 51 Carl Junction school buses received a 100% approval rating. This perfect score demonstrates the district’s ongoing commitment to ensuring student safety through exceptional maintenance and operational standards.

As a result of this achievement, Carl Junction was recently honored at the Missouri Association for Pupil Transportation (MOAPT) Conference, where Transportation Trainer and Mechanic Jason Wright accepted two major awards on behalf of the district:

  • The Safe Fleet Award, presented by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, recognizes districts that maintain the highest standards in school bus safety.
  • The Five-Year Exemplary School Bus Maintenance Award, presented by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), honors districts that have consistently demonstrated excellence in bus maintenance over a five-year period.

“These awards are a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our transportation team,” said Assistant Superintendent Kyle Williams. “We are especially proud of our bus mechanics, Taylor Warner and Jason Wright, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our buses are safe, reliable, and ready for the road every day.”

Carl Junction’s Transportation Department has built a strong reputation statewide for its professionalism and high standards. The recognition from both the Missouri State Highway Patrol and DESE further reinforces the district’s leadership in student transportation safety.
