Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education announced High School Teacher Tobin Schultz as one of seven finalists for Missouri State Teacher of the Year.
Schultz, a business and social studies teacher and varsity football coach, was named the Carl Junction District Teacher of the Year in April and the Southwest Regional Teacher of the Year in July.
Mr. Schultz has a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Missouri Southern State University and a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration from William Woods University.
While at Carl Junction, Schultz has established CJHS Java Junction, a student-run coffee service, and CJHS Junction Threads, a student-run online spirit store, using a non-profit model. Both use 100% of the store profits to invest into student-led school and community service projects. He has also developed a Service Learning Community Service program involving 100 student-leaders who have collectively invested over 7,500 hours in community service.
