Brown receives Citizenship Award

CJ Senior Recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Citizenship

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education recognizes Carl Junction Senior Maggie Brown to receive the 2022 Missouri Award for Outstanding Achievement in Citizenship.

This award is based on exemplary civic actions, academic achievement, extracurricular leadership, and community service.

While at Carl Junction High School, Brown served on the student council as her class vice president and currently is the student-body vice president. She has also been active in extracurricular and co-curricular activities, including playing on the volleyball team for four years, is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society; participates in the A+ Program and the Service Learning Class; and was chosen for the Tomorrow’s Leaders Today program.

Brown plans to attend John Brown University, pursuing a career in Marketing. She was nominated for this honor by Carl Junction High School Teacher Terry Higgins. She is the daughter of Jeremy and Teresa Brown.

Brown is the fifteenth Carl Junction Senior in a row who has received this honor.
