Lawson named Golden Lion

A senior at Carl Junction High School, Ellie Lawson, received the regional Golden Lion Award and a $1,000 scholarship to Missouri Southern State University. Ellie is the second Bulldog to receive the honor this year, following Autumn Sewell.

The Golden Lion program selects a local senior nominated online by a faculty or community member. Recipients must demonstrate a desire to impact their community while positively influencing their school.

Ellie has been very active throughout her years at Carl Junction.

She is an officer of the CJ Philanthropy Club, organized a Be The Match bone marrow registry drive, assisted with seven blood drives, and organized a dodge ball tournament where proceeds went to Special Olympics. For two years, Ellie also volunteered at the Special Olympics track and field days. Outside school, she volunteers at her church nursery and with Fostering Hope.

Ellie plans to attend Missouri Southern, pursuing a career in Occupational Therapy.

The Golden Lion Award Scholarship program is sponsored by MSSU, H.E. Williams, Inc., and Nexstar Broadcasting. If you would like to nominate a giving senior, please visit their website https://www.mssu.edu/advancement/giving/goldenlion.
