Reading Circle Program

  • Book List

    Dear Parents,

When spring comes, we start the Reading Circle Program at the Primary K-1 School. At that time we send home a page to record books that your child reads. The goal of this program is to encourage wider reading interests and increase the enjoyment of books. Each grade level has a minimum number of books each student must read in order to qualify for the Reading Circle Certificate. If you would like to have your child participate in this program, I am asking you to help them record the books they read during the rest of this school year. This can include books checked out from the library, guided reading books, and books that you have at home!

Following is the number of books that are required for each grade level.

*Kindergarten - 10 books (These books can be read to the child.)

*1st grade - 12 books (Part of these can be read to the child.)

If you do not have the Reading Circle Booklist, you can simply record the name and author of the books. If you would prefer to have another official form, just send us a note, and we can send you a new one! Please sign and then return the list to school on or before April 26th, to qualify for the Reading Circle Certificate.

I hope you and your child enjoy this reading activity. I feel it is a great goal to work toward and to achieve. My hope is that every student will be able to complete this program and receive a special certificate in May. The recognition form is also placed in his/her cumulative file.

Thank you for encouraging your child to read. If you have any questions, please call @ 649-7045.
