Reading Circle

  • Dear Parents,

It is time to start the Reading Circle Program at the Primary 2/3 School.  The goal of this program is to encourage wider reading interest and increase the enjoyment of books.  We are encouraging all of our students to participate in this program.   Each grade level has a minimum number of books that students must read in order to qualify for the Reading Circle Certificate.  If you would like to have your child participate in this program, I am asking you to help them record the books that they read throughout the school year.

The following is the number of books required for each grade level:

    **2nd Grade – 14 books

**3rd Grade – 11 fiction books and 5 nonfiction books for a total of 16 books.  Please put F for fiction next to the fiction titles and NF next to the nonfiction titles.  (Nonfiction books have numbers on the spine and fiction books have an E for easy or an F for fiction.  You will find this on the white label on the spine of the book.)

After you and your child have completed the attached list, then return it to school on or before April 1, 2025 to qualify for the Reading Circle Award.  I hope you and your child enjoy this reading activity.  I feel it is a great achievable goal.  The students who complete this program will receive a special certificate and recognition in May.  If they participate in the program for five or more years, they will receive a gift card to “Books a Million” when they enter the intermediate building.  Thank you for helping your child to see how much we value reading!

Here’s hoping that we help create a lifelong love of reading!

    Happy Reading!!

    Sincerely,

    Ashton Platt
