Chromebook Damage Waiver-Fee Guide

  • The Carl Junction R-I School District's technology and electronic services exists for the purpose of enhancing the educational opportunities and achievement of students.

    Qualifications
Students who attend at least one class or block in 5th through 12th grades at Carl Junction Schools qualify for the use of a District-owned device. A Damage Waiver Fee must be paid in full prior to device distribution. Students must comply with expectations in the user agreement in order to maintain possession of the device. Failure to pay the damage waiver fee will result in limited usage of the device and full financial liability in the event of damage or loss.

    Terms
The device is legally the property of Carl Junction Schools. The damage waiver charge must be paid for each device before it is distributed to the student. Additional financial obligation will be assumed by student/parent/guardian for loss or damage due to handling, transport, storage, use, or if reporting of loss/damage is not in compliance with the Device User Agreement. Failure to meet financial obligation will result in repossession or limited usage of the device. Once a student is no longer attending Carl Junction Schools, the device must be immediately returned. Any device not returned by the designated deadline will be considered stolen property.

    Payment Options
The annual damage waiver fee is a non-refundable $10 per device payment to Carl Junction Schools. Students will check out the same device and maintain its use each school year unless otherwise specified.

    Damage Waiver Benefits
Students with a paid damage waiver fee will receive discounted prices on repairs. In the event of substantial accidental damage, financial liability is limited to $50 per incident. In the event of recurring or excessive damage, the district may elect to limit student device take-home privileges. Intentional damage is not covered by the damage waiver and will require full payment of repairs up to the replacement cost of the device.

If a device is lost or stolen, student financial obligation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may result in fees up to the full replacement cost of the device plus accessories and licenses.
