Get the Lead Out of School Drinking Water Act

  • The Get the Lead Out of School Drinking Water Act became a state law in 2022 - 160.077. Beginning in the 2023-24 school year and for each subsequent school year, each school shall provide drinking water with a lead concentration level below five parts per billion in sufficient amounts to meet all student and staff drinking water needs.

The district engaged a professional environmental consulting firm to test water sources throughout the buildings. This included sampling drinking and food preparation outlets to ensure compliance with the required action level of five parts per billion (5 ppb) stipulated by the State legislation. This threshold is well below the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) recommended action level of 15 ppb.
