• WELDING TECHNOLOGY

    Welding I Grade 11

Welding I introduces students to the fundamentals of welding safety, tools, and techniques used in the welding industry. Students will develop an understanding of workplace safety standards and earn their OSHA 10 certification. The course provides hands-on experience with multiple welding processes, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). In addition, students learn to identify and interpret basic weld symbols, perform oxyfuel cutting operations, and follow industry-standard safety procedures. Emphasis is placed on developing proper welding techniques, equipment maintenance, and foundational skills that prepare students for advanced welding courses and entry-level industry opportunities. Students will be expected to provide their own Personal Protective Equipment along with appropriate work clothes for the shop. Students must pass their safety test before they will be allowed to work in the shop.

    Welding II Grade 12

Welding II builds on the foundational skills developed in Welding I, advancing students’ proficiency in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). Students gain hands-on experience with plasma arc cutting and continue to develop accuracy, consistency, and quality in their welds. The course emphasizes interpreting advanced weld symbols, blueprints, and fabrication drawings, as well as performing weld inspection and adhering to industry safety standards. Advanced students are introduced to pipe welding techniques, preparing them for higher-level coursework and professional applications. Welding II equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed for welding certification and entry-level careers in the welding industry. Students will be expected to provide their own Personal Protective Equipment along with appropriate work clothes for the shop. Students must pass their safety test before they will be allowed to work in the shop.
