• ALGEBRA I

Students will work with real numbers and manipulate polynomials and radicals.  Students will solve and graph linear equations, inequalities, and systems.  Students will analyze linear, quadratic, and exponential functions.  Students will participate in group or individual activities using traditional learning styles. (One-credit, one-year course for grades 9-12.) Effective 2018-19 school year and beyond: Grades earned in 8th grade Algebra I will not be figured into the high school GPA, but credit will be placed on the Carl Junction High School transcript if the student earns Proficient or Advanced on the End-of-Course assessment. Students who earn Carl Junction High School credit for 8th grade Algebra I during the 2018-19 school year or beyond will not earn additional Algebra I credit in high school if they choose to repeat Algebra I in 9th grade. If a student repeats Algebra I in grade 9, the freshman-year credit and grade will override the 8th grade Algebra I grade and will be figured into the cumulative GPA. However, both courses and grades will be listed on the high school transcript. To obtain a CJHS diploma, three math credits must be earned during grades 9-12.
