Machining
Machine Technology I
Grade: 11
This course provides classroom instruction and lab experiences related to metalworking. It focuses on the operation of equipment such as the lathe, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines, precision measuring instruments, and hand tools. Blueprint reading and math are important parts of this course. Students who enroll for this course should enjoy working with machines and making metal projects. Must Pass OSHA Safety within first three weeks of the class, ineligible to be in shop until passed, and must have proof of current insurance and medical form on file.
Engines 1
Grade: 11
In this course students will build upon the knowledge and skills obtained in the Intro to Small Engines course. Students will learn theory and complete hands-on, project-based tasks related to the servicing and maintenance of components used to transfer power including: bearings and gears, as well as drive systems commonly found in agricultural implements. Students will have the opportunity to earn industry related credentials pertaining to safety, engine equipment technology, and forklift operation. During the course, students will take an on-line certification exam through the Equipment Engine and Training Council. Passing the Basic Engines exam with a 70% or higher will earn the student a “market value asset”, an industry related credential that includes a certificate, certification patch, and a chevron for the students’ work uniform. Students have the opportunity to join a CTSO and compete in the SkillsUSA Power Equipment Technology contest. Students must pass all approved safety tests before working in the shop. Students are ineligible to be in the shop until safety tests are passed, and must have proof of current insurance and medical form on file.
Computer-Aided Manufacturing
Grade: 11
In this course students will engage in project-based learning lessons with hands-on activities to reinforce the content. Units of study will include 2D and 3D CAD, metrology/3D scanning, reverse engineering, 3d printing, laser engraving/cutting, CNC plasma cutting, basic CNC tube fabrication, robotic welding, and basic CNC machine turning and milling. Students will have the opportunity to earn industry related credentials pertaining to safety and equipment. Must Pass OSHA Safety within first three weeks of the class, ineligible to be in shop until passed, and must have proof of current insurance and medical form on file.
Machine Technology II
Grade: 12
This course includes advanced instruction machining metal. The course focuses on milling machines, boring and drilling, the use of surface grinders, vertical and horizontal boring and drilling machines, basic study of CNC equipment, and job seeking. Students in this program can qualify to take the NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) Measurement, Materials and Safety Exam and become certified. Students will also be given the chance to obtain OSHA 10 and Forklift certification through this class. Must Pass OSHA Safety within first three weeks of the class, ineligible to be in shop until passed, and must have proof of current insurance and medical form on file.
Engines 2
Grade: 12
In this course students will build upon the knowledge and skills obtained in the Engines 1 course. Students will learn theory and complete hands-on, project-based tasks using service and parts manuals related to the servicing and maintenance of powersports equipment including: chassis and suspension systems, tire mounting and wheel balancing, brake service, electrical and control systems, and fuel injection systems. Students will have the opportunity to earn industry related credentials pertaining to engine equipment technology. Students are ineligible to be in the shop until safety tests are passed, and must have proof of current insurance and medical form on file. Prerequisite: Engines 1
Computer-Aided Manufacturing 2
Grade: 12
