DUAL CREDIT WESTERN CIVILIZATION SINCE 1500 (MSSU HIST 0140)
Survey of Western societies from the age of exploration to the retreat of European colonialism. Major emphasis on the development of the nation-state, the impact of industrialization and revolutions, European imperialism, and the two world wars. (one-half credit, one semester elective for grades 11-12) Recommended Reading ACT score of 18 or higher. Prerequisite: Students who wish to take this course for college credit must meet all requirements of MSSU plus the following: (1) Payment of MSSU tuition for fees/book. (2) Students in 11th and 12th grade must have an overall GPA of 3.0, or 11th and 12th grade students with overall GPA of 2.5-2.99 must provide signed letter of recommendation from principal OR school counselor AND parent or legal guardian.
Students taking dual credit classes are encouraged to contact the college they plan to attend to check for credit transferability. Some credits will be transcribed as elective credit if it is not required for a particular major or general studies requirement.
